Cherry United Methodist is the oldest church in Canton, Michigan. It was established in 1834. In 1835 the community raised $600 to be used to build a church building. The church was first served by Marcus Swift a Circuit Rider who served ten churches in the area from Ann Arbor to Detroit. The church has seen the community of Canton grow through the ages and continues to open its door to all who choose to enter. Cherry Hill United Methodist Church mission is: We are called together to be risk takers for Christ who: Welcome the Weary, Worship with Joy, Work for God’s Kingdom, and Walk in Faith, leaving footprints for others to follow.
